This perfume has a very special place in my heart. A family member of mine used to wear it, and that’s how I discovered it back in 2007-ish. It gives you the warm feeling of cinnamon around Christmas time, the fresh feeling of newly chopped wood, and the subtle sweetness of a rose.
Tam Dao is a very special scent. It’s not like anything else. It’s a beautiful unisex scent with a definite edge to it at first, but it settles into a warm scent wrapped around you like a soft blanket, whether that’s on a cold winter night or a beautiful summer evening. It’s a year around perfume and the kind of perfume, that people notice and ask about. It’s been one of my favourites for years now, and when this bottle is finished I’ll be repurchasing as soon as possible.
It’s part of the “Woody” personal fragrance category on Diptyque’s website, and their description is as follows.
– “The mountains of Tonkin tremble under the weighty steps of elephants carrying uprooted trees of precious wood through the vines. Majestic Sandalwood breathes out its redolence in the sweltering heat of the jungle.. Tam Dao pays tribute to the most sought-after of the sacred woods: The Sandalwood of Goa.”
Top notes: Rose, Myrtle, and Italian Cypress.
Middle notes: Sandalwood and Cedar.
Base notes: Spices, Amber, White Musk, and Brazilian Rosewood.
Lots of love,
